Funding for Part Time Students

Applying for part-time grants and loans 2017/18

The application process for part-time Welsh students is now open for the 2017/18 Academic Year.

Welsh students can apply via Student Finance Wales.

English students can apply via GOV.UK and applications are now open.

What is available for new part time students in 2017/18 All eligible part time students will be able to apply for a non means tested Tuition Fee Loan
    Students from Wales may receive up to £2,625

    Students from England may receive up to £6,750

This is repayable once you have graduated, or four years after you have started your course (whichever comes first) and are earning more than £21,000 per year. If you are a continuing student you will still be eligible to apply for the Part Time Fee Grant, please view the Student Finance Wales website for further details. Support for Course Costs for Students Living in Wales

Part time students living in Wales are eligible to apply for a grant of up to £1,155 for books, travel and other expenditure related to their course. The grant is based on your household income.

Other financial help

You may be able to get extra funding if you have adults or children who are financially dependent on you. This extra funding can include:-

    Adult Dependants’ Grant (ADG)

    Childcare Grant (CCG)

    Parents’ Learning Allowance (PLA)

Disabled students

If you have a disability, mental health condition or specific learning difficulty, you can apply for extra help through Disabled Students’ Allowances. Further information can be found from Student Finance Wales.

Fee Waiver

Designed to assist more people in gaining higher qualifications, Fee Waiver offers fee remission for students who are unemployed and actively seeking work or who are in receipt of DWP benefits. Eligible students can claim up to a maximum of 360 credits from the fund during their studies, which may be spread across several academic years.
